On a beautiful, sunny Sunday, May 3rd, the Presidents Cup Executive Mixed Triples Tournament kicked off at Oak Bay LBC. This annual event serves as a “meet and greet” for BSI Club Executives and officially opens the BSI Tournament schedule.

Representing Team Lake Hill were Laima van Turnhout, Shona Dallison, and Mike Lee. In the true spirit of a team game, our trio decided to rotate positions for each of the three games—stepping out of comfort zones to support one another.
The Matchups:
• Game 1 vs. Central Saanich
The opposition’s Lead—a sharp 90-year-old—was consistently “on the jack,” making every end a challenge. Five of the first six Ends came down to a measurement. Unfortunately, the measures and the clock didn’t fall in our favour, and Central Saanich took the win.
• Game 2 vs. Victoria LBC
This was a true heartbreaker. We were up by one on the scoreboard and holding two shots in a tight cluster. With the final shot of the game, Victoria sent a “Hail Mary” runner. It “pachinkoed” through the cluster, popped out, and landed at the back of the rink to snatch the end and the game just as the clock ran out.
• Game 3 vs. Sidney LBC
After regrouping with our dedicated Cheer Team over lunch, we faced an undefeated Sidney squad. Our Lead found the jack on 7 of 10 ends, and our 2nd and Skip played brilliantly matching shot after shot. However, Team Lake Hill remained resilient, playing a clinical game to secure a fantastic upset victory.
Club Pride:
While we may not be hoisting the 2026 Presidents Cup this year, we walked away with our heads high. We truly have the best members—those who show up to support our players and represent the heart of Lake Hill.

Go Team Lake Hill!
Laima, Shona and Mike
