Sue Ennis and Lesley Bainbridge met with Our Place staff to present them with the $3000 raised at the Presidents’ Shield tournament. They were so grateful for the donation and the generosity of our club.
Our Place has received funding to build a rehabilitation location for women to complement the one that already exists for men. Offering residential care for anywhere from 6 months to 2 years, the men’s program has been highly successful in enabling the men who have “graduated” to remain substance free, employed and housed.
They anticipate the same success rate for women. At their downtown kitchen, they serve 1400 meals a day and, now that they are seeing more seniors needing meals, they have created a 55+ community hub which is proving to be very successful. As progress is made toward more sheltered housing, Our Place staff have been meeting with those living on Pandora Street to assess their needs in order to better facilitate access to the shelter and services that each person needs.
It is truly an amazing organization and the staff were very grateful for our support.
Thank you again Sue for your hard work in organizing the tournament and to all who were present on the day for your generosity
