Prior to the start of the tournament Nick Fenger gave a history of the importance of the Cavett family to Lake Hill Club. Eight teams competed over a three night period. Each team played 7 games, which takes a lot of concentration.
Jag Bains and Larry Mahoney finished 1st with 6-1 record. Mark Planiden & Mark Legacy were 2nd along with Joe Fitzgerald & John Richard in 3rd place. The Cavett trophy was presented by George Schellenberg. George explained that he and his partner, Mel Lightbody were the 1st winners of the trophy donated by Ron Cavett.
Jag Bains gave an emotional speech, citing hard work as to the key to winning the event. Jag gave thanks to the many coaches and friends who helped him over the past number of years. Larry Mahoney, a new member of the club also gave thanks to the experience enjoyed thus far.
Once again there was a number of members who came through to host this event. Margot Gillard, Marie Makuch, Betty Storey & Alice Schellenberg looked after kitchen duties. Food was great with the only complaint being the temperature of the water. This was solved with 2 more ice trays in the freezer.
Thanks to Chris Dodd, Joe Fitzgerald & Anita Wah who put down the lines prior to the event which sped up play, Nick & Jean Fenger who chalked the 2 meter mark, Stephen Makuch & Randy Small who showed up early to lay out the rakes, mats & score boards, and Kevin Neary who provided us was with great pictures of the winners. Thanks to all involved and the spectators who came out and supported the bowlers.
