This last weekend our men’s novice representative, Derek Delves, played in the Bowls South Island (BSI) Novice Singles at the Vic West Lawn Bowls Club. Ten men each representing their own club played in two pools. The two winners from each pool then played for the Championship. The two second place winners in each pool play played for 3rd and 4th place.
The games were played to 15 points with a time limit of 1 hour 45 minutes.
Derek placed second in his pool and advanced to the finals. He played a stellar game against the fellow from Victoria Bowls and Croquet Club. Both men had a strong game and the score was tight for most of the game. Derek won! And therefore came 3rd in the Championship.
