Lake Hill Lawn Bowling Club was well represented at the BC Provincial Fours – Shona D, Sue E, Kathryn B, Marnie D, Margo G, Linda S, Lindsay M, Anita W, Shaen M, Nick M, Mike L and Randy S. They all competed showing support and camaraderie and all played great.

A brief rundown on the men’s side:
The 6th place team (Shaen, Nick, Dan B from Burnside and Erik E from Qualicum – previously Victoria) beat the 3rd place team from BSI to go on to the quarterfinals where they were undefeated on Sunday to win gold. They are now off to Edmonton in August to represent BC in the nationals!

The 7th place team (Mike Lee, Barry Ming & Jay Huang of GH and Jeremy Zhou of Victoria) played the 2024 defending Provincial Champions. They were down 3 coming home and their skip (Jay) made a shot for up 3 making the game a tie in the last end. To break the tie the game had to go an extra end. Mike’s team got it and ended up in the quarterfinals. They lost their rematch game to Shaen’s team, but went on to play for the bronze and won that against Brent Merchant of Oak Bay. So they came away with a medal!

On Sunday morning Randy and his team of Don Allen, Geoff Poulton, and Joey Schiphorst (all from the Victoria LBC) were in 4th place going into the day. They played off against the 5th place team from Vancouver to move on to the quarterfinals. With 2 ends to go Randy’s team was down 13-7. The next end they got 6 to tie it up coming home, where they lost by just 1 point.
A brief rundown on the women’s side:
Marnie, Sue, Kathryn and Shona were the only women Lake Hill players to move on. They were in 5th going into Sunday and won their first match to move on to the quarterfinals. In the first game, they were tied coming home and didn’t get it, but it was a very close match the whole way. They then played off for bronze and lost 12-9.

The women’s gold medal winners were from Victoria (including Jill Foster who is a member of Lake Hill). Two of the other players Annie Mathie and Sherry McGowan were on a team with 2 different women 25 years ago when they also won.
The weekend was fun and a great experience!
