Lake Hill Lawn Bowling Club was the setting for a livestream test match on Wednesday, April 29. Island Bowls Live wanted to test some new broadcasting equipment and made arrangements with bowlers at Lake Hill to stream a game live on YouTube. Shona Dallison teamed up with Mark Planiden and Kenn Pearce to take on Joe Fitzgerald, Mona Jensen, and Sirish Patel in a friendly exhibition game that anyone online could watch live (and still watch in archived form).
Geoff Poulton and Joe Schiphorst with Island Bowls Live commentated on the match while switching views of the game between four cameras set up around rink 7. Team Dallison took an early lead, but fell behind soon after and weren’t able to recover as Team Fitzgerald snagged end after end. The weather co-operated and a good time was had by all. And the testing of the new equipment was a success!
