The Lake Hill Lawn Bowling Club officially kicked off the competitive season yesterday with our first club tournament of the year – The Copper Beech.

Players faced off in a unique “Quest for the All-Star Team” mixed triples format. While competitors stayed in their preferred positions for all three 10-end games, their teammates shifted every round. Individual scores were tracked across the day to find the top-performing Lead, Vice, and Skip.
The weather started cool but warmed up beautifully under the afternoon sun, making for a perfect day on the greens. The format provided a fantastic way for everyone to experience a friendly tournament while mingling and playing with different teammates.
Here are your 2026 Copper Beech All-Stars:
🏆 1st Place
Skip: Judy Currie
Vice: Phil Warman
Lead: Wilnae Murphy / Bill Karlenzig
🥈 2nd Place
Skip: Jag Bains
Vice: Gloria Lieutard
Lead: Dana Watson
🥉 3rd Place
Skip: Kate Kajewski
Vice: Sirish Patel
Lead: John Di Tomasso

👏 Heartfelt Thanks to Our Volunteers
An event like this cannot happen without the incredible dedication of our club volunteers:
- Greens Preparation: Joe and Chris for marking the lines on Friday afternoon.
- Morning Setup: Marnie for her early morning help getting everything ready the day of.
- Registration: Kenn and Alana for checking in players and collecting entry fees.
- Spares: I started out only needing one and then came the desperate emails and phone calls. This tournament would not have happened without all of you, so thank you very much.
- The Kitchen Crew: Bev and her amazing team—Moira, Eleanor, Kathleen, Alice, Sandra, and Leslie S. Thank you for keeping everyone energized all day long.
- Tournament Administration: As always, an extra big thank you to Deryk for his essential computer work…especially this time – oops!

Congratulations to all our winners and a huge thank you to everyone who came out to make the first tournament of the year a success!
