We were delighted to host the first Interclub Short Mat tournament since Covid. I wish to thank all the teams for sportsmanship and I hope everyone had a good time. We were pleased that we had a team from Nanaimo and Duncan.

We had only one play off where the skips roll one bowl each. I personally have done this in the past and it is a bit intimidating. Congratulations to Karen Heagle in winning it.

Congratulations to Brent Merchant and his team who won the “C” event in a close game over the Bev Carter team.
The battle for the “A” and “B” event was the survivors from the 7 game long route due to an earlier loss – Larry Shorter’s team and the 4 game winners, Nick May’s team. It was an amazing game with Larry’s team on the fifth game on Sunday beating Nick’s team. So Larry’s team were the “A” event winners and Nick’s team the “B” event winners. It is the first time for a long time that one of the Lake Hill teams have won this event.
Congratulations to all!

I wish to thank Margot and her kitchen team for all the goodies and to Deryk and his team for working the score boards. A special thanks goes out to Svend Klausen for umpiring. It is the volunteers that make a tournament successful.
