Thanks to the participants who bowled in this fund raising event. 3 LakeHill teams raised $360.00 over the $40.00 per team entry fee. Kudos to Ann Merriman, Betty Hellwig and the folks who brought goodies that made this a well organized and enjoyable event”. Anita
Goals of the event hosted by Juan de Fuca Lawns Bowl Club:
1. Provide an opportunity for bowlers across the South Island to come together for a fun weekend of bowling; where we can develop new inter-club friendships and continue our ongoing friendly rivalries. The keywords are “fun” and “friendly”. I especially applaud the many teams that habitually include their club’s novices in this event; please carry on that spirit of inclusivity…
2. Raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society, in support of the important work it does:
- funding cancer research,
- promoting cancer prevention,
- and providing support for people with cancer, and their families.
“Well, you outdid yourselves this year. Collectively, you raised another $8,052.60 for the Canadian Cancer Society.
All of these funds will stay in our community and will be assigned to the Vancouver Island Lodge near the Royal Jubilee Hospital.
Thank you so much for your generosity and good sportsmanship throughout the tournament. A special thank you to the clubs that organize related fundraising tournaments and funnel their proceeds to the Lawn Bowl for the Cure event.”
